Lane Cemetery

Richwood Township

Section 3, Township 39 North, Range 13 West

Miller County, MO.

From Tuscumbia take Hwy 17 towards Iberia.   Just a little after Hwy C, on the right, you will come to Hendley’s Farm Supply, on the left, and a road just past their business, which is Sequoia Road, turn left there.  Continue until you come to Humphrey’s Creek Road, which makes a steep right, and turn there.  Continue on to a low-water slab with a park area.  Just past this slab, and to the left under a large tree in the midst of a field, lies this cemetery.    It is completely demolished with all the stones piled on each other.

Mr. & Mrs. Bobby Roark owns the property and she told us that the stones have been unreadable for many years.   Mrs. Roark did tell us that she was able to read one stone with name only and that is Betsy Prock and that she died at 4 or 5 years old.   The only other information will come from Miller County records.

Mrs. Roark also told us that Mrs. John Wilson, Ellen (Rhea), was supposed to be buried here.   She is the wife of John Wilson and this is the property of the infamous Wilson Cave where Mr. Wilson was buried in the 18th century.   Mr. John Wilson has his own burial site at the cave.

This cemetery is no longer in use.
